HARPER LENDS A HAND FOR BARNARDO’S ON MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY

Photocall: 10am, Tuesday 10 October, Barnardo’s Edinburgh Bookshop, 45 Clerk Street, Edinburgh.

Lothians Green MSP Robin Harper will be lending a hand in his local Barnardo’s shop to mark this year’s Make a Difference Day on October 10. Make a Difference Day is intended to encourage volunteering, and to highlight the benefits of volunteering both to the individual and to a range of good causes.

Mr Harper will be volunteering for an hour or so, and will:

  • meet staff and volunteers and hear of the work carried out
  • have a quick tour of the shop and discussion of local issues
  • spend time on the till serving customers

Mr Harper said, “Volunteering builds social capital, and is one of the foundations of a healthy and happy society. There are many good causes taking part in Make a Difference Day, I chose Banardo’s because there are so many children and young people relying on the services they provide. I hope that if I give some of my time, perhaps others will too – that will really help make a difference.”
